Poor diet is killing Ghanaians – Lady Julia

Her Royal Majesty, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, has expressed worry about the poor eating and drinking habits of Ghanaians which she believes contributes a lot to lifestyle diseases killing most of the youth.

According to her, Ghanaians have developed poor eating and drinking lifestyles which, if not addressed, will go a long way to cripple the development of the nation.

“As the saying goes, a healthy people breeds a healthy nation, for that matter, the government needs to commit more resources in educating Ghanaians on how to develop a healthy lifestyle. Investors will be driven away if they realize that the country they are investing in have poor health records,” she noted

Her Royal Majesty, Lady Julia Osei Tutu disclosed this to UTV NEWS when she launched the Lady Julia Osei Tutu Annual Nutrition Forum at the Golden Tulip, Kumasi.

She charged women especially, to take charge of their family’s health as what they eat and drink depends on them. She posited that regular exercise is also very important and serves as pain killers to the body: “therefore I entreat each and every Ghanaian to be mindful of what they eat and what they drink. It should be adequately balanced, nutritious and be taken in moderation”.

Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, who was a panel member for the forum discussion, stressed on the need for Ghanaians to eat and live healthily.

Touching on hard liquors, he admonished the youth to moderately consume them because he believes it is one of the things which is killing most of the youth.
