NPP congress slated for March, 2014

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has decided on March, 2014 to hold its National Delegates Congress to elect new national executive for the party.

Preceding this will be constituency and regional elections. The exact day for the Congress in March is yet to be finalized, however.

A statement issued by the party after a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday, October 3, 2013 noted that there is no plan to impose current Members of Parliament (MPs) of the party on constituencies.

“The New Patriotic Party continues to believe that elections are the best way to judge one’s electability,” the statement signed by Abdulai Fuhlanba, the Deputy General Secretary of NPP, said.

“The National Executives are working towards its replacement in March 2014 and the constituency and regional elections to precede the National Delegates Congress,” it mentioned.

Members of the national executive have been tasked to consult their local executives for finalization on internal calendar as regards elections.

The NPP is considering early congress to choose a flagbearer ahead of the 2016 Elections.
