Robotic inspired science education competition ends

The Ghana Robotic Academy Foundation (GRAF) has ended a two- day competition among students in first and second cycle schools, which exposed their talents in science, technology and mathematics.

The competition attracted 17 schools from Greater Accra, Volta and Eastern regions.

Senior Robotics Engineer, Dr Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu, said the Robotics inspired science education programme seeks to transform the learning experience of young Ghanaians by connecting science theory with hands-on learning experience.

He said 95 per cent of those who participated in the competition expressed their interest of becoming scientists in future, while their performance was encouraging.

Dr Musheibu Mohammed-Alfa, Deputy Minister of Environment Science Technology and Innovation, said the aim of the competition was to demystify science and technology as well as encourage students and build the best in ICT so that Ghana could be among the leading countries in technology.

Asorkor Bernard Augustine a student expressed gratitude to GRAF for the competition, adding that it has broadened the minds of participants.

Annie Yennah a student from the St Mary’s Senior High School said the programme had thought the participants how to work as a team.

Schools that took part in the competition were Bishop Herman College, Labone Senior High, Accra Academy Senior High, Accra High, Accra Girls, Faith Montessori, Ghana Christian International Senior High, Keta Senior High, Presby Boys Senior High, Galaxy Star, Aburi Girls Senior High, Team 4 Stars, Nouvel Academy, Hero Jet School and Day Spring Montessori.
