Court jails driver’s mate for possessing drugs

An Accra Circuit Court on Monday handed a nine-month prison term in hard labour to Gago Brown, a driver’s mate, for possessing narcotic drug.

The court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri sentenced the convict on his own plea.

The facts of the case as presented by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Patrick Morkeh is that, the Complainants in the case are Corporal Salifu Fuseni and Corporal. R. Nyande, all Police officers stationed at Adabraka.

DSP Morkeh said at about 1800 hours on September 24, upon a tip off, the suspect was arrested together with a compressed parcel of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp whilst joining Dambai bound vehicle at the Adabraka fish market.

He said the exhibits are yet to be sent to the Police Forensic laboratory for analytical examination.
