Plans for late Aliu’s first anniversary begin

A delegation from the family of late Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, comprising staff of his former office and members of the Aliu Mahama Foundation, has met with the leadership of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prepare for the first anniversary celebration of his death.

The Former Vice President passed away on November 16, 2012 at the Korle bu Teaching Hospital after he was seriously ill.

The delegation will be liaising with the government to unveil activities to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the former Vice President’s death.

XYZ NEWS gathers that a memorial lecture, as well as the launch of the Aliu Mahama Foundation, will be held in his honour.

Member of Parliament for Nsawam, O .B Amoah, led the delegation.

He said: “We went to the party office and met the entire members of the steering committee of the party, which includes the minority leader of parliament, to discuss and plan ahead the first anniversary celebration of former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama”.

For his part, the late vice president’s son, Farouk Aliu Mahama, expressed the family’s gratitude to the NPP, the government and Ghanaians for their efforts to keep his father’s legacy alive.
