Borrowed monies being put to good use – Gov’t tells minority

Government has accused the minority in parliament of misleading the public about the state of the Ghanaian economy.

Minority says the economy is in crisis because of what it describes as President Mahama’s penchant for borrowing. It has expressed fear that the economy would run down if the trend continues.

However, Deputy Information Minister, Felix Ofosu Kwakye disagreed.

He told XYZ News the monies being borrowed are being put to good use.

“I find it surprising that the minority would say government has done nothing with the monies borrowed.

“For instance, everybody knows that when we borrowed 3 billion dollars from the China development bank, we pumped a significant number of it into the construction of a gas processing plant in Western region,” he argued.

The deputy information minister said such long term projects will eventually improve the economy of the country.

He cautioned the minority to assess matters objectively without political bias.
