Bawku needs substantive MCE

President John Mahama will have to immediately renominate someone for confirmation as the Bawku Municipal Chief Executive. Bawku has been operating without a substantive MCE since the assembly members on two occasions rejected the president’s nominee, Amadu Karim.

The Upper East regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed–Muniru is acting as the Bawku Municipal Chief Executive.

However, Presiding Member for the Bawku Municipal Assembly, David Adoliba said the area’s development agenda has been stalled.

“The absence of a substantive MCE is hampering the area’s development agenda; even though the regional minister is acting it is not easy to get him to immediately attend to issues that will push the municipality forward.”

David Adoliba implied that there were daily activities that required the attention of a MCE at the assembly.

“There are day to day activities that people need the Chief Executive to discuss issues like employment, construction of bridges and developmental issues and so it is a challenge and we are hoping that the President will renominate someone for the assembly to consider.”

Mr. Adoliba admonished President Mahama to do the people of Bawku a great service by fast tracking the renomination.
