The Ada East District Assembly has rejected the President’s nominee, Mr Peter Kofi Aduteye for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE).

Out of the 37 votes cast, the nominee polled 17, representing 45.9 per cent. According to the District Electoral Commission Officer, Mr Alex Quam, the nominee was supposed to get 26 votes out of the 37, to be confirmed as the DCE.

Mr Jacob Ofori Caesar was also elected unopposed as the Presiding Member after he and his contestant, Mr Rockson Serwornu polled 24 and 13 votes respectively.

It took the intervention of the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Julius Debrah and his Deputy, Isaac Dzangmah Vanderpuiye, Mrs Comfort Doeyo Cudjoe Ghansah, Member of Parliament for Ada and Minister of State at the Presidency; the National Democratic Congress Regional Chairman, Mr Kobina Ade Coker together with the leadership of the Assembly to ask Mr Serwornu to step down for Mr Caesar to be elected unopposed.

It would be recalled that the Ada East District Assembly for the past four years had been without a Presiding Member to steer its affairs.
