President John Mahama is expected to hold sub-regional peace talks with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and Ivorian President Alassane Quatarra on the sidelines of the investiture ceremony of Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.
The president left Accra on Thursday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the West African country’s leader.
Addressing the media at the Flagstaff House today, Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed said issues of democracy and peace on the continent is of utmost importance to the president.
“We all need to agree that democracy is the path we charter, therefore, I think that at a point in time, such discussions are important if we want to have a stable continent,” Murtala told the press.
He added the Mahama government pledges to support moves and initiatives to maintain peace and stability in Africa.
