Nana Akomea resigns as NPP communications director

The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has officially resigned from his post.

The notably vocal former Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South announced his resignation through his Facebook page, stating that it had been effective from the 13th of September.

In his post, the leading member of the NPP who was appointed Director of Communications for the NPP in January 2011 said “I stood down as NPP director of 2012 campaign communications last Friday 13 September. I will now happily respond to ‘former director’. I am grateful to all my colleagues–deputy directors and members of the communications team–for the very good relationship we have enjoyed.”

Nana Akomea, however, stated that NPP’s failure to achieve its ultimate aim of winning the 2012 election was a disappointment.

He said “As for success, we missed our ultimate aim of winning the elections. But we surely put in our best in the face of the gargantuan resources available to our opponents.”

He, however, added that he was hopeful that the NPP would be successful in the 2016 presidential elections, “given the ever increasing, never ending hardship the mass of our people continue to suffer”.
