French Naval Ship berths at Tema Habour

A French Naval Ship, the “Germinal,” has berthed at the Tema Habour for a three-day stay.

The visit is to strengthen ties between French and Ghanaian Naval forces.

Commander Nicolas Pannetier, Commander of the ship which arrived on Friday, September 13, told journalists that; “we are here to work and train with the Ghanaian Navy. We also look forward to a multinational exercise with the Ghanaian Navy and other countries”.

As part of the visit, the crew would conduct renovation for Orphan Aid, a Non Governmental Organisation.

The Germinal has a staff of 12 officers, 66 petty officers and 22 boat men and sailors.

This is the second berthing of the ship. The first was in September, 2011.

The Germinal is expected to cast off on September16, 2013.
