NAGRAT threatens strike

There could be another agitation on the educational front following the decision by university lecturers to call of their month long strike.

The National Association of Graduate Teachers has given the National Pension Regulatory Authority up to the end of the month to forward teachers’ monthly contributions into the occupational base pension scheme.

But the teachers say the authority has refused to forward their contributions for the past ten months.

The General Secretary of NAGRAT Danisluv Elanbumi told XYZ NEWS teachers are being taken for granted.

He said: “We are worried because some of us will retire in 2014 and we are supposed to enjoy from the new pension.

“Once we have already formed our board of trustees and it is registered by law we are to receive that money for the board to manage and invest; that is all we are asking for.”

The scheme was set up in 2010 as a form of investment to improve the wellbeing of teachers.
