Govt attends to Ya-Na’s wives

Information Ministry officials have hinted at definitive arrangements being made towards the welfare of the wives of the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani.

A Daily Graphic report quoting a Special Assistant at the ministry said the government delegation led by the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ernest Debrah made the initial move last weekend when it presented token items to the women at a ceremony at Tamale.

The items include four bags of rice, four bags of maize and a cash of 2 million cedis. The Special Assistant Mr Ferdinard Ayim , was quote to have disclosed in an interview in Acera that “the women will be put on stipend as an interim measure.”

The report assured the nation that the government was aware of the problems facing the wives of the Ya-Na and that discussions have begun to find ways to alleviate their plight.
