NADMO in huge debts; faces multiple lawsuits

Deputy National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Sylvester Azantilow says the organisation is unable to service huge debts they are saddled with.

He said an urgent intervention from government is needed to save the organisation from numerous court suits brought against them by their creditors.

According to him, they currently have low stock and no help has come from government to enable them re-stock for eventual disasters.

Speaking on GTV Monday, the Deputy National NADMO Coordinator, said “day in day out we run between the Ministry [of] Interior, the AG’s Department…because people are sending us to court; we’ve not paid them”.

He noted that it is clear government alone cannot support NADMO. He, therefore, called on “all people, all individuals and philanthropists, stakeholders…to be up and doing to help their country when disasters occur.”

The National Disaster Management Organisation is a government agency under the Ministry of Interior responsible for the management of disasters and similar emergencies across the country.
