Mahama’s PAC comment unfortunate – Agyeman Manu

The Public Accounts Committee has described as unfortunate President Mahama’s recent claim that the committee provides no recommendations for the enhancement of the management of public funds.

President Mahama made the statement at a recent meeting with civil society groups at the Flagstaff House.

But the chairman of the committee, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, in a short statement before the committee begun its public sitting on Monday, said the speaker of the house will engage the president on the matter soon.

“The report cited by the president is hanging, we haven’t completed work on it, but that work was done by the previous Parliament and it would be unfortunate to put the problem at the doorstep of a new committee in a new Parliament”.

Meanwhile, officials from the Finance Ministry, Bank of Ghana among others, have been appearing before the committee.
