Statement: Final GYEEDA report won’t be accepted

The attempts by President John Mahama to rewrite the GEEYDA report by denying the authenticity of the Draft report that Young Patriots leaked, whilst indicating that a final draft report will be made public is totally unacceptable and a shameful attempt at watering down the rot at GYEEDA.

It is curious that the P.V. Obeng committee asked for more time to study the ‘’unknown’’ report and make the appropriate recommendations to the government, yet the President, on the other hand, already knows the content of that “Final Report” which he intimates will be different from what is out there. The president’s comments means he already knows the outcome of a yet to be written report or he has an input in the final report to know it will be different from the original report presented to him.

The Young Patriots wish to indicate that apart from the Draft report, which we leaked, investigative documents and tapes that are available to us indicates that even the draft report in circulation is a mild version of the rot at GYEEDA. The President’s desperate attempts to wish away the leaked report will not wash.

It was clear from the President’s submissions, his lack of commitment to fighting corruption.

The Young Patriots will reject any “Final Report” from the President and we insist that the recommendations contained in the draft report should be fully implemented. Failure to implement this report, we will consider other options such as the Economic and Organized Crime Organization (EOCO) to further investigate and have the matter prosecuted.
