‘NPP leaders happy with Sir John’s SC troubles’

National Women’s Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Sousa, claims some executive members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are not enthused with the power Lawyer Kwadwo Afriyie wields as General Secretary of the party.

According to her, these saboteurs are the ones behind the planned march by supporters on Tuesday to the NPP’s headquarters under the guise of empathizing with the embattled General Secretary.

Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, Sammy Awuku, is reported to have told the media that some party activists will head to the headquarters clad in “red and black” as a sign of protest against what they perceive to be the selectivity of the Supreme Court in dragging mostly NPP members before them.

According to Sammy Awuku, the supporters believe some NDC members have made equally contemptuous utterances which “lowers” the “authority and credibility” of the court “in the eyes of the general public,” but are yet to be cited.

But the NDC National Women’s Organiser believes such protest marches are simply a ruse because it is crystal clear not all NPP members back Sir John’s recent outburst against the Supreme Court.

“I am telling them (NPP) the truth, some leadership of the party are pleased with what Sir John is going through. Some wished he will be unseated as the party’s General Secretary though they might not want him (Sir John) to be jailed by the court.

“…those preparing to wear red and black because Sir John has been invited by the Supreme Court are all hypocrites, they are all happy but pretending. I will not mention names, but they know themselves,” Anita De Sousa said on Adom FM.
