Addison made silly deductive reasoning in his address

A stalwart of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Tony Aidoo, has described as infantile the petitioners address as espoused by Lawyer Philip Addison.

Nana Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 elections and two others, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, are in court seeking to invalidate votes of President Mahama based on alleged election malpractices.

Both the petitioners and respondents in the case were given thirty minutes each on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 to make oral addresses to convince the court with regard to the case.

In his oral address, lead counsel for the petitioners, Philip Addison, stated that “for the first respondent, he garnered 5,574,761 as against 5,127,641 by all his parliamentary candidates, which showed a difference of 447,120. What accounted for this difference? It cannot be the skirt-and-blouse phenomenon because the NDC is in the majority…

“The majority in parliament secured 121,221 votes less than the minority. This is curious and undermines the one man, one vote; spelt out in the Constitution”, Mr. Addison said.

But speaking on Radio Gold’s current affairs programme, Alhaji and Alhaji on Saturday with Alhassan Suhuyini, Dr. Tony Aidoo expressed disgust at Lawyer Addison’s assertions.

“Never for one moment did I attribute that deductive reasoning relating to the discrepancies between the total votes garnered by John Mahama and the total votes garnered by the NDC parliamentary candidate…the deductive reasoning in itself means something went wrong…My God! This is infantile and lacks intellectual depth. I am seriously disturbed that persons who came and presented themselves as ‘my learned friends’ can make such silly deductive reasoning,” he lamented.
