Let’s trust the SC to pronounce fair verdict – Sakara

The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Foster says the nation must trust the Supreme Court (SC) to reach an impartial verdict in the election petition case.

“Let us have confidence in the nine-member panel of Judges for a fair verdict,” he said in a statement issued on Thursday August 8.

He counseled the youth to “avoid any act that could create problems”, adding that: “…Let us forge ahead in unity after the judgment day and develop our motherland Ghana”.

The Supreme Court is expected to reach a final verdict early next month after months of back-and-forth arguments and adduction of evidence by both petitioners and respondents.

The petitioners – 2012 presidential candidate of the main opposition News Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; his running mate Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and the party’s National Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey – resorted to the Court to contest the presidential election results claiming the elections were fraught with irregularities.

The respondents are President John Mahama, the Electoral Commission and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
