Meter theft increases in Asante-Akim South

Increased electricity meter thefts in the Asante-Akim South District has become not just a major discomfort and an irritant to the people but a worry to the police in the area.

The worst affected communities include Juaso, district capital, Atwedie and Asankare.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, told the Ghana News Agency that the police continued to receive complaints about stolen meters, and warned the perpetrators to stop in their own interest.

He said they would do everything to track down the offenders and bring them to justice, adding that, they would soon begin night patrols in the various towns to reduce such petty crimes.

DSP Latebu invited the people to be security conscious and complement the efforts of the police by taking steps to protect their property.
