Lawyers for first respondent in the ongoing election petition case in their address to the Supreme Court are asking for a dismissal of the petition.
A member of the president’s legal team, Victor Adawudu, who filed the address on behalf of the president, indicated that the petitioners throughout the case failed to prove their case because “all that they brought to court does not stand the test of evidences.”
The petitioners and two of the respondents involved in the election petition case; the president and the Electoral Commission, on Tuesday filed their addresses in a bid to present their case to the judges as to why the over 4 million votes should or should not be annulled.
In an interview on Eyewitness News, Mr. Adawudu mentioned that his team was not perturbed by the 16 boxes of address submitted by the petitioners to the court.
“I believe that if they brought 16 and we have only one box, it’s just like David and Goliath. We have just brought one box because we don’t want to have a problem…it’s just something salient we have put there, the position of the law, everything we think that need to be heard in the court is in there, and it is sufficient.”
The Supreme Court within the next 15 days is expected to deliver a ruling on the case.
