Music Teachers End Conference

Akropong-Akuapem, Aug 29, – The 12th annual conference of the Ghana music teachers association (GMTA) under the theme ”in search of a philosophy of music in Ghana”, ended at Akropong-Akuapem yesterday. Closing it, the Akuapem North district chief executive, Mr Anthony Gyampoh, expressed concern about the way the music industry is being used for monetary gains. He charged members of the association to find ways to change the trend. Mr Gyampoh stressed the need for research into the philosophy to guide the development and perfection of music teaching. He emphasised the need for the country’s music to be ”a source of inspiration, music that builds a healthy nation and not immoral music that destroys the very fabric of the nation”.
