Bawumia brightens North

A renowned Islamic cleric in Tamale, Sheikh Ibrahim Basha has observed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s performance in the election petition hearing has changed the perception about people of the North as being underdogs in the knowledge industry.

Saying special peace prayers for the country during the end of this year’s Ramadan Tafseer (recitation of the Quran and commentaries) at the Masjidul Bayaan Mosque in Tamale, he said “as a Muslim cleric I make a special mention of our brother in Islam, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia whose courage, stance and control demystified the age-old belief that Muslims in Ghana, especially those from the North fall behind in the knowledge industry.”

He said special prayers for the Supreme Court justices hearing the election petition so that they would handle the matter before them.

He said “let Ghanaians appreciate their work (judges) wholeheartedly and acknowledge the outcome as the will of God.”

He charged Ghanaians not to boast of victory, adding that “the only winner shall be our nation.”

God, he said, can return any political party to power at anytime and called on everybody to take note.

As Muslims continue with their annual Ramadan fasting, he charged them to strengthen their prayers for peace in the country.

“Let Muslims strengthen their prayers for the nation as only through peace can the country develop.”

Sheikh Ibrahim Basha said the decision of Nana Akufo-Addo and his colleagues to go to court to challenge the verdict of the December elections was a blessing from Allah, stressing that the country would have been the loser.

He said a special prayer for the North so that God would endow it with riches and provisions.

He called on the chiefs and all Ghanaians to work diligently to promote unity and prosperity of the nation.

The foregone was the subject of discussion in Tamale, especially after its dissemination on the local airwaves.
