Yendi (N/R), Aug 29, – The Yendi District Chief Executive, Mr Mohammed Alhassan, has amicably settled a misunderstanding between the Zagban-Na and Konkombas living at Zagban. The misunderstanding arose when some Konkombas used banned local herbs in fishing in a stream without informing the local chief. The Zagban-Na, Gamfield Andani Andan, made a report to the Yendi police who arrested the fishermen and later granted them bail. Mr Alhassan advised that sub and divisional chiefs in the area should be accorded due respect to promote unity and peaceful co- existence among the various ethnic groups. He said the people need peace to mobilise resources for development and warned that anybody who creates problems in the area would not be spared. The district chief executive said the government has been over- stretched in finding lasting solution to conflicts in the area and urged the people to be tolerant. The Zagban-Na accused Kokombas in the area of not co-operating with him. He commended the district chief executive for bringing the two ethnic groups together to smoke the peace pipe and gave the assurance that they would now live in peace.
