Forgive AMA Boss; it was just a blunder – Okoh

The Designer of the Ghana flag, Theodosia Okoh says she doesn’t support calls for the dismissal of Accra Mayor, Alfred Vanderpuije, following the hockey pitch re-naming debacle.

The pitch bears the name of the 91-year-old, so a decision by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to re-name it in honour of the late President Mills sparked uproar.

Some critics say the Mayor must be sacked for the blunder.

However, Theodosia Okoh told XYZ News on Friday July 26, 2013 in an interview that, such calls are misplaced.

She says Dr. Vanderpuije’s blunder must not be used against him.

“It’s nothing, this is just a minor mistake so they shouldn’t worry…people make bitter mistakes than this,” the Senior Citizen said.

She added that: “Nobody should sack somebody because of me; I don’t like that”, adding that: “I am a Christian”.

Meanwhile, K. B. Asante has expressed reservations about the name-change saga but nonetheless said the president should not have intervened in the whole affair.
