Court to hear suit against Mahama’s boy on July 29

The suit involving assembly members of the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District and the Electoral Commission will be heard on July 29.

The 23 Assembly members say that even though the president’s nominee for DCE, Peter Light Koomson, was confirmed, he failed to secure two thirds majority of total votes cast.

They have filed an injunction at the Cape Coast High Court to restrain Mr Koomson from holding himself as DCE.

An assembly member, Paa Kojo Yankson told Joy News the election of the DCE is of “dubious validity.”

According to him: “originally we are 23, and we voted no.”

“As concerned citizens in the district, we believe in the rule of law and must be upheld.”

He said the nominee cannot hold himself out as DCE of the area until the court decides.
