Fire burns shoe seller to death

A 33-year-old shoe seller at Kotokuraba, Mr Kwabena Tawiah, alias “Dada Boat” met his death at Royal lane-Ntotoo, a suburb of Cape Coast, when fire gutted his house at mid-night.

According to his siblings, the fire broke out when the deceased and his girlfriend were fast asleep.

He said a neighbour who saw smoke coming out of Mr Tawiah’s room, raised the alarm and his girlfriend responded and tried to wake him up, but there was no response.

The girl managed to escape and pleaded with neighbours to help rescue the deceased, but the fire was so intense hence the need to call personnel of Ghana National Fire Service to assist to extinguish it.

The body of Tawiah who was burnt beyond recognition has since been conveyed to the Central Regional Hospital morgue, awaiting investigations and autopsy.

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Police confirmed the story.
