The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has extended its goodwill to Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, the National Chief Imam, and wished all Muslims in Ghana a successful Ramadan.
A statement signed by the General Secretary of the Council, Dr. Kwabena Opuni- Frimpong, copied to the GNA, explained that Ramadan is a time during which Muslims attain nearness and closeness to God, therefore, Muslims in Ghana should pray for the nation during the event.
It said: “it is also a time of charity, thus CCG would expect Muslims in Ghana to use this opportunity to help the needy and less privileged”.
The statement said the Council expressed the hope that Muslims in Ghana would pray for God’s blessings upon the nation, and asked that “peace prevail in the light of the ongoing election petition at the Supreme Court.”
It also recognised the positive influence of Muslims on Ghanaian communities, and prayed that the new generation of Christians and Muslims continue to live in peace.
The statement commended the Chief Imam and the entire Muslim community for their contribution to the country’s development.
The Council assured Muslims of its solidarity and prayers during the Ramadan.
