GIBA denies claims by Prof. Kwame Karikari

The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) has denied claims by the Executive Director of Media Foundation for West Africa, Prof. Kwame Karikari.

Speaking at a public lecture on contempt organized by the Centre for Democratic Development, Prof. Karikari claimed that GIBA had refused to establish a self regulatory body to guide members who flout rules and ethics.

Prof. Karikari further alleged the Association also rejected money from Star Ghana to establish the proposed regulatory body.

But the Executive Secretary of GIBA, Gerald Ankrah told Joy News that the Association already has a code of conduct to guide practitioners.

He stated that GIBA was unaware of any financial support for the Media Foundation for West Africa from STAR-Ghana, to establish a regulatory body.
