Kuranchie must blame himself for his jailing – NPP MP

Opposition Legislator for Kpandai, Mathew Yindam says Ken Kuranchie was the cause of his own imprisonment.

Mr. Yindam told Radio XYZ’s news analysis programme ‘The Analyst’ on Saturday July 6 that the Searchlight Managing Editor’s attempt to justify comments, whose original utterer, had shown remorse and rendered unqualified apology for, was befuddling.

According to him, Ken Kuranchie’s attempt to justify his publication is what landed him in jail.

“…It becomes very difficult for you to justify….he was finding it very difficult to justify,” Mr. Yindam observed.

Mr. Kuranchie is serving a 10-day prison sentence for his paper’s justification of the description of the nine-member panel hearing the election petition as “hypocritical and selective” despite an unreserved apology rendered by the uttering of those words, Mr. Sammy Awuku, Deputy Communication Director of the main opposition New Patriotic Party.

Mr. Awuku was let off the hook by the Bench after his apology but barred from attending the remainder of the hearing.

He made the charge against the Bench after the Court had warned the Daily Guide newspaper to be decorous in its description of the Court in its publications.
