Robbery – Suspects Trapped

LAST WEEK, four suspected robbers who trailed their targeted victim from a bank in Accra ended up imprisoning themselves at the Heavy Industrial Area, Tema.

Information gathered by the Chronicle has it that on Friday last, a man whose name is being withheld, went to withdraw ?10 million from a bank at the Opeibea House, Accra.

He headed towards Tema but soon realised that an Opel car with registration GR 85342 S was trailing him.

According to the man, with the aid of the driving mirror, he noticed that each time that he accelerated the blue black car did same and vice versa.

He led them to the WACEM yard, near the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), and as he entered the car followed suit.

He quickly alerted the security at the gate who locked the gate behind the trailing car and raised an alarm.

The driver went back into the car trying to use a second gate but luck ran from him as it was also locked.

Sensing danger, he abandoned the vehicle and jumped the wall but three of his accomplices were overpowered by irate workers.

A police patrol team rushed in to rescue them from being lynched.

When their vehicle was searched, different types of car registration numbers were found in it, including a trial plate.

Surprisingly, the car number ER 8532 S did not tally with any of the vehicle’s documents such as insurance and the DVLA.

A further search revealed counter forms from the bank, pre-supposing that they were present at the bank when the man cashed the cheque.

They are Thomas Adjei-Commey, 29, Emmanuel Tetteh, 33, and Kaku William, 27.

The Tema Regional Police Commander, ACP Agnes Sikanartey, when reached, confirmed the story but said police were investigating.
