Kweku Baako has lost touch with the people — CPP

The Deputy National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party, Mr. Ernesto Yeboah, has described the Managing Editor of the Crusading Guide Newspaper as “an appeaser of the neo-colonial order”.

He was responding to Mr. Baako’s opinion on the Joy FM News file program that “CPP’s commendation of the violent demonstration by agitated youth over poor roads “amounts to constitutional lawlessness”.

Speaking on MultiTV, Ernesto Yeboah stated that the word ‘People’ in the CPP was not for decorative purposes and that it was most regrettable that, Mr. Kweku Baako, who was “once upon a time a voice for the people” but has now become an “appeaser of the neo-colonial order”.

He said today, Mr. Baako speaks for ex-President Kufuor, Mills and President Mahama. He has no idea about the predicaments of the people and, therefore, can afford to condemn them on account of their justifiable demands.

He maintained that if Mr. Baako was looking for “votes for constitutional lawlessness,” then the 1992 constitution is the number one example—a constitution that was signed by the leader of a violent organisation with no mandate, cannot be talking about peace.

He cited a news item on Myjoyonline.com in which 700 unpaid nurses have been denied their right to demonstrate because of the election petition.

Ernesto asked “where was Mr. Kweku Baako when the Ghana Police Service announced an illegal ban on all demonstrations pending the completion of the election petition hearing before the Supreme Court? Does he not think that is also an example of a vote for constitutional lawlessness”?

Mr. Yeboah added that it was hypocritical of somebody who actively partook in the street protests and blood festivals, screaming “let the blood flow,” to take such a stance.

Mr. Baako has no morality to castigate the CPP’s endorsement of the Ashaiman protest. “It was the most rational thing to do under the circumstance,” he added.
