An Ivorian ex-convict, Nyamekeh Desri, 20, was on Tuesday remanded into prison custody for defrauding by false pretence.
His plea was not taken and would re-appear in court on July 12.
Prosecuting, Inspector Fuseini Yakubu, told a Takoradi Circuit Court presided over by Mr Kwesi Boakye that the complainant, Obet Quashie, 37, was a civil engineer and resident of Essipon whilst Desri stays at Ngyerisia, near Sekondi.
The prosecutor said in December 2012, Quashie approached Desri and expressed his intention of buying a vehicle and the accused told him that his former boss had tasked him to sell his vehicle for him.
He said after some negotiations, they agreed on GH¢50, 000 as the cost of the vehicle of which Quashie made part payment of GH¢31,127 to Desri.
However, when Desri failed to bring the said vehicle to Quashie as agreed, Quashie became more suspicious when Desri demanded additional money before bringing the vehicle and, therefore, reported the case to the police.
Desri was arrested and admitted the offence in his caution statement and promised to refund the money.
However, Desri failed to refund the money and was arraigned before the court for prosecution.
