The Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Oppong, has appealed to old students to do their best to find solutions to some of the problems facing their Alma Mata since the government alone cannot provide them with all their needs.
Mr Oppong made the appeal when addressing a group of Old Students of the Agona Swedru School of Business (SWEBUS) at their homecoming meeting at Agona Swedru.
He urged the alumni, both at home and abroad, to assist the school to reduce the acute infrastructural development deficit facing the school.
Mr Oppong said over the years, people have been using Social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Myspace and others to facilitate business promotion.
He hoped that old students abroad could use such means to contact the authorities of the school and charged the alumni to institute scholarships for the needy but brilliant students of the school to help them pursue further education.
He said the Assembly has donated 300 mono desks to SWEBUS to enhance quality teaching and learning.
Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom, MP for Agona West, and an old student of SWEBUS said the school was facing numerous problems, which was affecting teaching and learning, and mentioned some of them as the lack of Assembly and Dining halls, classroom blocks and others.
The MP assured the school authorities that everything possible would be done to improve facilities at the school.
Mr Samuel Afrifa Appiagyei, Headmaster of the School expressed appreciation to the alumni and asked them to use their current positions to assist the school.
He said government alone cannot provide all the needs of the over 500 Senior high schools nationwide.
The 1993 year group of the old students pledged a donation of GHc40,000 and a generator plant to school.
