Food poisoning at UDS: Caterer tells it all

The woman, who prepared pastries suspected to be the cause of food poisoning at a birthday party at the University for Development Studies (UDA), has explained circumstances surrounding the saga.

Twelve students of UDS were hospitalised when they reportedly ate pastries at colleague’s birthday party on Thursday.

The birthday boy has been hospitalised after showing signs of abnormality. He is currently under observation.

Ten of the affected students have also been discharged. Radio Justice’s Martina Bugri spoke to the woman who prepared the pastries.

The woman (name withheld) revealed, the butter used for the pastries contained herbs and looked greenish. It was not her butter, she noted.

She says, the organisers of the party brought it and insisted on using this “specially made” butter for the pastries, – a request she complied with.

The pastry tasted odd after preparation, but yet again the students responded “that was what they want,” she says.

Some of the students vomited, looked faint and were rushed to the hospital after contacting the caterer to complain about the pastries.
