Alhaji Hamidan gets nod as Asokore-Mampong MCE

The Asokore-Mampong Municipal Assembly on Friday elected Alhaji Nuru Hamidan, the President’s nominee, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) at an election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) in Kumasi.

He polled 14 votes out of the total 14 ballots cast to get the nod.

Alhaji Hamidan, 36, until his election, was a Deputy National Coordinator of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).

Mr. Eric Opoku, Ashanti Regional Minister, lauded the Assembly for the peaceful manner in which they elected the new MCE and advised the members to rally behind him in his endeavours.

This, he said, was the only way the Assembly could achieve its development objectives and alleviate the plight of the people and charged the MCE to be committed to duty and also demonstrate transparency and accountability in his activities.

He should also liaise with stakeholders in the execution of his development agenda.

Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawasi, reiterated the need for him to adopt an all-inclusive policy in the discharge of his duties.

Alhaji Hamidan, in outlining his vision, said he would concentrate on education, health development, security, youth employment and sanitation, to enhance the wellbeing of the people.
