The deputy communications director of the opposition New Patriotic Party has taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama for his recent comments on the outcome of the election petition at the Supreme Court.
Addressing executives and members of the ruling National Democratic Congress during the 21st anniversary of the party, President John Mahama averred that the outcome of the election case will prove his government guiltless of the claims by the petitioners of the NPP, challenging his legitimacy as the fourth president under the fourth republic.
He expressed no doubt about the results of the presidential elections, stating firmly that the governing party won “cleanly in free and fair elections.”
But in a sharp riposte to the president’s comments, Sammy Awuku described as “prejudicial” such submissions seemingly vindicating the Mahama-led government.
He wondered why President Mahama would come to a conclusion when the case is still pending in court, and thus insisted on Peace FM’s morning programme “Kokrokoo” that the “president’s comments were unfortunate, prejudicial and avoidable.”
