Afari-Gyan to continue evidence in-chief today

Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, will later today continue his evidence in-chief before the Supreme Court in the ongoing election petition hearing.

His testimony last week attracted keen interest from all parties involved in the case.

The legal teams representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC)and President John Mahama are already giving indications they will seize the opportunity to seek further clarification from the EC Chairman once he is done giving his evidence.

Abraham Amaliba, a member of the NDC legal team, said he is sure Mr Tony Lithur and Mr Tsatsu Tsikata are very likely to ask Dr Afari Gyan to explain some of the things that were not clear to them.

Spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) legal team, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, also told Joy News they have identified key areas they will like to challenge during cross examination. This he said includes issues bordering on the voters register.

“We are going to interrogate the [voters] register issues extremely carefully because how dynamic the register is, will come into issue”, Buaben said.
