All should help to protect state resources – Gyawu-Kyem

Mr Kwame Gyawu-Kyem, former Editor of the Ghanaian Times, has urged the public to act together to prevent graft, misuse and waste of state resources.

He said all should take responsibility for the protection of the public purse and property by exposing corrupt officials.

Mr Gyawu-Kyem was speaking at this year’s Citizenship Day celebration organised by the Atwima-Mponua District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Nyinahin.

“Everyone Counts” was the theme for the event and in attendance were students and pupils drawn from basic and senior high schools in the area.

Mr Gyawu-Kyem underlined the need for tolerance and respect for the fundamental rights, freedom and legitimate interest of other people.

This, he said, was necessary for the promotion of peace and harmony in the society.

Mr Gyawu-Kyem said members of the public should also co-operate with the law enforcement agencies by providing them with credible leads for the arrest and prosecution of criminals.

He counselled the school kids to work hard on their books and assist to safeguard the environment.

Mr Francis Sarpong, Head Teacher of the Nyinahin Catholic Primary School, reminded parents of their responsibility to their children and said they should make sure they provided them with all their basic school needs.
