A member of the Communication Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) believes General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who is giving his evidence-in-chief for the First and Third Respondent; President John Mahama and the NDC respectively, has demonstrated that he does not fully understand the nature of the petition before the Supreme Court.
Davies Opoku opines that most of the remarks made by the NDC Chief Scribe in the witness-box on Thursday clearly show why from the very commencement of the case he has been running wrong commentary in interviews he granted.
Speaking on Okay FM, Davies Opoku claimed “General Mosquito” as the NDC General Secretary is affectionately called, exposed himself with his definition of the over-voting; stressing that it is not entirely true that over-voting only happens when the total votes are more than the people who are legible to vote in a particular area.
“…even the definition given by Asiedu Nketia has exposed the NDC’s appreciation of the fact that the petitioners are right with their claim that irregularities and election malpractices occurred during the 2012 elections…the respondents have now admitted that there were clerical errors in the election,” he added.
Davies Opoku further stated that based on the admission by Asiedu Nketia that there were some “clerical errors,” then it will not be illogical to suggest that, for the true outcome of the 2012 presidential election to be ascertain, the errors need to be subtracted from results.
“…the court must order a directive for a fresh counting of the results to ascertain the true verdict of the 2012 election declaration,” he added.
