Gov’t to investigate corruption claims at GYEEDA

Mr. Ayariga in a statement said a committee set up by the ministry of youth and sports is reviewing the entire process and advised the media or any other persons with information to assist the committee to help the investigations.

The Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) has been implicated in a lot of financial and procedural malpractices which prompted the sector Minister, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, to halt all activities in relation to the scheme and also stop the scheme from developing other modules.

The Minister for Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga, says government has already instituted investigations into allegations of suspected mismanagement of some modules under the National Youth Employment Programme.

Reacting to news reports of some module partners shortchanging beneficiaries of the Programme now known as the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA), Hon. Ayariga said an investigative committee set up by the Minister for Youth and Sports is already reviewing the entire process.

“It will be important for media houses that have additional information or unearthed some further details to also assist the Committee with the information they have to help the investigative and review process”, Hon. Ayariga said in a statement issued Tuesday night.

The Minister noted that government in furtherance to its commitment to a transparent and accountable governance module will continue to appreciate and promote cooperation with the media and society to deal with any identified misapplication of public resources.
