10-month-old baby found dead at public toilet

Police in Akatsi have begun investigations into how a 10-month old baby girl was dumped at a public toilet in the town. The baby was discovered on Sunday dead in the toilet.

Volta Regional correspondent Ivy Setordji said the mother of the child, 17-year-old Ayisha Mohammed, told Police her baby fell sick sometime ago and died on Friday.

According the mother of the child, she called the father of the child and told him she was bringing the dead baby to her mother at Zongo, but upon reaching the house, the father of the child and his brother, took the dead child away and dumped her in a toilet.

Akatsi Police Command, Chief Superintendent, Denis Fiakpi, told Joy News’ Ivy Setordji the teenage mother of the child is in Police custody assisting with investigations. The father of the child is on the run.
