Chiefs and indigenes urged to foster unity for development

Nana Mbeah I, Mponoahene of Okyeman, has called on chiefs and settlers on stool lands to unite and foster development in their communities and avoid litigations over land.

He said unity and understanding among chiefs and the people was necessary as it would ensure rapid growth in their communities.

Nana Mbeah said this at Adeiso, a town in the Upper West Akyem District when he visited the area to interact with farmers and settlers in the area.

He appealed to the indigenes to stay watchful and reject gifts from sand winners who would only destroy their farmlands, environment and thereby create problems for them.

Speaking to the GNA later, the Mponoahene said a vast stretch of land between Adoagyire and Nsawam has been earmarked for investors, Non-Governmental Organizations, estate developers and the youth who are interested in farming.

He said when investors and other charitable organizations bring their investment to the area the youth would be engaged and that would prevent them from travelling to the big cities in search of non-existing jobs.

Nana Mbeah said Okyeman has stool lands and not family lands and therefore investors or businesses on the stool lands should ensure that all their documents and titles covering the lands are duly signed by Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II.

He said this is in addition to the need for them to contact Okyeman Lands Commission and the Okyeman Mponoahene for proper documentation to ensure peace and stability.
