Former assembly member solicits assistance for rainstorm victims

Edward Atta Kojo Dawuni, a former Presiding Member of Zabzugu/Tatale District Assembly, has appealed to individuals and organisations to support rainstorm victims in Northern region.

He asked communication networks such as MTN, Vodafone and Airtel, non-governmental organisations and religious bodies to donate to the victims since government alone could not assist them.

Mr. Dawuni, who made the call when he interacted with some of the victims at Yendi in the Yendi Municipality, lamented that rainstorm, which hit parts of the region, destroyed houses, schools and displaced some people, who are now living with relatives and friends.

He advised the victims to use good quality building materials for the rehabilitation of their houses so that the structures could withstand disasters.

He asked assembly members in the various communities to mobilise their people to plant trees to serve as wind breaks.
