Muslims pray for Akufo-Addo to win court case

Many Muslims in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital, on Tuesday prayed fervently for God’s favour and protection for Akufo-Addo, 2012 flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and other party members who are challenging the results of the presidential election at the Supreme Court.

The programme was initially disrupted by the police who said the organisers did not secure permit to hold the event. The Muslims also called for the maintenance of peace after the verdict of the Supreme Court.

Interestingly, the peaceful prayer session was held amid tight security as several policemen was seen hovering at the venue.

The well-attended programme, which was organised by Free Education Now Prayer Group (FENPG), led by Andy Owusu, was held at forecourt of the Koforidua Palace.

The objective of the grouping, made up of mainly Junior High School (JHS) graduates, is to pray to God to help Nana Akufo-Addo to win the court case.

The students, whose parents and guardians face financial difficulties, want Nana Akufo-Addo to emerge victorious in order to implement his famous free SHS education policy.

Leaders of the Muslims, Alhaji Tanko Mohammed, during the prayer session, said Ghanaians must play a leading role to make the country safe.

He prayed to Allah to help Nana Akufo-Addo to occupy the highest office of the land to implement effective programmes to improve the lives of the people.

Alhaji Tanko, a staunch member of the NPP, said members of the group had been praying fervently to support Nana Akufo-Addo, urging other Muslims to promote peace and unity.
