At the end of day four of the ongoing election petition case, the Supreme Court on Monday adjourned proceedings to Tuesday morning.
The court had fixed 09.30 hours for reconvening but lead counsel for the petitioners, Mr Philip Addison, pleaded that the time be extended to 10.00 hours because the first petitioner and NPP flag bearer in the December 2012 polls, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo had to attend to another case at the High Court on Tuesday morning.
Counsel for President Jon Dramani Mahama, Mr Tony Lithur, who has been cross examining Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, second petitioner in the case, on the latter’s earlier submissions to the court, is expected to continue with the interrogation when court reconvenes on Tuesday.
Subsequently Mr Quarshie Idun, and Mr Tsatsu Tsikata, Counsels for the Electoral Commission and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) respectively, are also expected to take turns in cross examining Dr Bawumia.
Nana Akufo Addo, Dr Bawumia, and NPP Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey are the three joint petitioners in the landmark election dispute case currently before the Supreme Court.
