First Deputy Speaker caution students against sakawa

Mr Ebo Barton Oduro, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, on Friday cautioned beneficiaries of the Better Ghana Agenda Laptop computers not to use the facility for Cyber fraud popularly ‘Sakawa’ or to watch pornography.

He also admonished them not to sell the computers but rather strive to make maximum use of them to enhance their academic work.

Mr Oduro, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast, gave the warning when he presented 134 laptop computers to students of Cape Coast Polytechnic and University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Cape Coast.

A total of 115 students from the Cape Coast Polytechnic received the computers while 19 from UCC also benefited.

Mr Oduro urged the regional authorities to ensure that the computers are delivered to students and not unqualified people.

Mr John Addo, Dean of Students of Cape Coast Polytechnic, thanked the MP for the gesture and promised that the facilities will be used for research and other academic work.

At UCC, the students also commended the MP for the computers and asked that the number of beneficiaries be increased in the next consignment.
