Last year the office collected 60.1 billion cedis, exceeding its target of 47.5 billion cedis. The assistant commissioner of CEPS in charge of Kumasi, Mr C.K. D. Mensah, said these during a CEPS tax education campaign at Obuasi. He appealed to the general public particularly manufacturers and importers to assist his office to collect the regional revenue target. He further appealed to importers and traders to endeavour to pay duty on commodities they bring into the country. In a speech read for him, Mr George Adu Mensah, Adansi West District Chief Executive, urged CEPS officials to guard against practices that make the realisation of their revenue targets difficult adding ”you should as much as possible avoid corruption either by commission or omission. He stressed the need for the management of CEPS to take the necessary steps to ensure that all economic saboteurs are brought to book.
