Francis Kojo Arthur, Member of Parliament for Gomoa West has appealed to Ghanaians to exercise restraint and patience for the government to fix the problems confronting the nation.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Gomoa Dawurampong, Mr Arthur said it was unfortunate that some workers could not wait for government machinery to take off before embarking on strike actions for improved salaries and allowances.
He said it was ill-timed that some workers were unwilling to bear with government at this difficult moment and were insisting on getting their pound of flesh.
“This is the time that you must show that we love our country and are prepared to die a little for it”, the MP said.
He said we must all do our best to move the country to a middle income status saying “it is by so doing that we leave a better legacy for the future generation”.
On the claim of huge monies paid to the MPs of the last parliament as ex-gratia, Mr Arthur said the money was paid to the accounts of the Parliamentarians that guaranteed loans from banks.
He said they were compelled to collect the ex-gratia as the interests on their bank loans were accumulating.
