Doctors at the Takoradi Hospital working despite GMA strike

Medical doctors at the Takoradi Hospital in the Western Region has been on duty since the declaration of a strike action by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the Takoradi Hospital on Thursday revealed that doctors at the health facility had been attending to patients since Monday April 8.

A source at the Records Department told the GNA that doctors at the hospital had not embarked on a strike action because they had not received any formal notice from the GMA.

However, the GNA observed that the Out Patient Department (OPD) was empty around 0100 hours and inquired about the reason.

The source explained that patients were not patronising the facility because they thought doctors were on strike.
